Afshan Bhatia, Esq.

Afshan Bhatia is an associate attorney at Cyber Law Firm, where she advises clients on cybersecurity, data privacy, incident response, and emerging technology risk, including deepfake-related liability and cyber-enabled crimes.

Afshan brings a transactional and regulatory background to her practice, drawing on experience in commercial contracting, corporate transactions, and federal and state privacy compliance. She counsels businesses on obligations under the CCPA, HIPAA, and the FTC Act, and guides clients through breach response matters, from containment strategy and regulatory notification to post-incident remediation and long-term data security planning. She also advises law firms on secure AI implementation and data protection risk through her work with LawTech AI.

Prior to joining the firm, Afshan served as an AI and Data Privacy Legal Fellow at Avant-Garde Legal, PC, where she tracked regulatory developments in AI governance and supported the development of privacy compliance programs and incident response frameworks. She also worked as a contract attorney on large-scale e-discovery productions at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, reviewing complex litigation matters involving PII, PHI, and sensitive commercial data. Earlier in her career, she practiced as a corporate associate at Lorium Law PLLC, where she supported M&A, real estate, and IP transactions.

Afshan earned her J.D. from Elon University School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science from Emory University. She is admitted to practice in Missouri and has authored publications for the California Lawyers Association on privacy law topics.
